Checking the packageOMC 2.8 · local checks

The pinned OMC 2.8 JSON schema and local graph checks are applied in your browser.

These checks describe this JSON package. They do not establish physical accuracy, asset rights, creative quality, or acceptance by the MovieLabs online validator.

Schema and source identity

All entities are shown, including independent reference assets. A package relationship does not establish ownership.

USE CASE / THE INCLUDED STORM EXAMPLE

From a connected world
to a creative work.

Sail Straight Into the Storm imagines San Francisco as New Venice 2047. This explorer demonstrates how OMC connects that creative work to its narrative context, locations, depictions, and reusable production assets.

The Storm Is Coming shows an example creative output of those worldbuilding ideas. Browse the structure here, then visit the project site to see the world presented to an audience.

A FIELD GUIDE TO THE GRAPH

An open language
for connected stories.

MovieLabs’ Ontology for Media Creation (OMC) gives production information shared names and relationships. JSON is one way to carry that information between tools.

An entity is a named thing. Its scoped identifier gives it an identity. A reference points to another entity by that identity.

01 / THE STORY

CreativeWork

The work being made: a film, episode, or another creative production. A package can describe more than one.

02 / THE FRAME

Context

The circumstances that connect information—such as a narrative world or a production setting.

03 / THE PLACE

NarrativeLocation

A place in the story. It can be imagined or based on a real location; the distinction needs supporting context.

04 / THE CONNECTION

Depiction

Connects something in the narrative with the asset or participant that portrays it.

05 / THE MATERIAL

Asset

A resource used or created in a production. This example catalogs scenes, models, and supporting materials.

06 / THE STRUCTURE

AssetSC

An asset’s structural characteristics, such as its file details. A file path in JSON does not include the file itself.

TRY A RELATIONSHIP WALK

From a story world to a scene asset.

Load the included example, select its CreativeWork, and follow Context → NarrativeLocation → Depiction → Asset using the incoming and outgoing links. The catalog also contains assets with no explicit link to that work.
